Catherine Marie Brady's Obituary
Catherine Marie Brady August 30, 1918 – January 25, 2011 Resident of Walnut Creek Catherine was born in 1918 in Oakland, CA , the fourth of five daughters born to Luigi Antonio Rossi and Maria Perata, both natives of Liguria, Italy. She passed away unexpectidly of heart failure after a short illness at the age of 92. Catherine grew up in West Oakland and graduated from McClymonds High School. She worked as a Secretary/Administrative Asst. for 20+ yrs. at the University of Calif, Berkeley. She married Joseph Patrick Brady Jr. in 1943 and had 2 children, Claire and James Brady. She lived most of her life in Berkeley and Oakland, moving to Concord area after she retired. She was known for her ceaseless energy, practical nature and good heart. She was a talented ice skater and seamstress, but her joy in life was dancing. She could glide gracefully in any ballroom, folk dance and square dance with the best of them. She is predeceased by her sisters Edith Perata and Frances Holden and her husband Joseph Brady Jr. She is survived by her children Claire Capor (married to Mitch) of Oakland , James Brady of El Cerrito and 3 grandchildren: Andrew and Michelle Capor and Taylor Brady. She also leaves behind 2 sisters; Emma Tusi of San Leandro and Louise Provence of Las Vegas, nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Edwin Rose. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, February 3, 10:00 am at Church of St. Theresa, 30 Mandalay Rd., Oakland. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Free Dining Room in Oakland.
