Carolyn R. Barnes' Obituary
Carolyn Barnes was born on August 24, 1948, the only daughter of Rosie Lipkins & Chester Barnes in Little Rock, Arkansas. At an early age, she, along with her siblings, Larry Barnes, Donald Dotson & James Dotson move to their grandparents in Grady, AR to allow our mother, a single woman at the time, to relocate to Oakland, CA to find a better way of life for herself and her children.
At 11 years of age, Carolyn & Larry moved to Oakland, CA to be with our mother & step-father, Glen Goodman, SR. Transition for a southern country girl had its ups & downs, especially during the turbulent hippie radical & racially charged era of 60’s. Through all of that with her infectious smile, quick wit & her good heart, she had no shortage of friends. After leaving Castelmont High School, she joined the Job Corps. Upon her return, she worked many years in the assisted living field.
