Carina Alvarez Wong's Obituary
Carina Milagros Alvarez Wong was born in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte Philippines on November 7, 1947, Carina was the eldest of four daughters born to Alejandro and Rosario Alvarez. After graduating from Columban College, she married her high school sweetheart Reynaldo Ruiz Wong.
Carina worked as an English teacher and Music teacher at her alma mater. She also shared her musical talent by teaching piano, singing in the church choir, and playing at weddings. Upon moving to America, Carina worked at World Savings Bank in Oakland until her retirement.
Generous with her leisure time, Carina found happiness spending countless hours involved in her church community as a Liturgist and member of the choir at Saint Leander Church. Carina served the Catholic church as a member of DeColores, Legion of Mary, and also Lady of Good Counsel.
But her greatest joy in life was the precious time Carina spent with her two grandchildren, Isabela and Nara, during their growing years. With a fondness for fondant, a penchant for all things purple, and a fervent commitment to family and friends, this lifelong piano teacher always enjoyed idling away at the ivories.
An unwavering faith in God allowed Carina to overcome insurmountable diagnosis after insurmountable diagnosis until she no longer could. She’ll be reunited with her sweetheart after 43 years of marriage. We will miss you most of all, our darling mother, when autumn leaves start to fall.
