Bonnie Drakeford's Obituary
Reflections of Life
Bonnie Kimberly (Polk) Drakeford was born on May 24, 1962, to Veronica Polk and James M. Polk in Philadelphia, PA. She received her formal education in the Philadelphia Public School System. Bonnie loved to dance and was the life of the party. She had a smile that would light up a room. Her siblings called her Kim growing up and she Kim had the most beautiful curly hair. She was known to be very protective of her family. She was a ride to die person. Kim loved to cook and entertain her loved ones, she also loved to dress to impress! Her music was very important to her as she loved old school music and going to concerts. She was also very involved with her nieces and nephews’ sports activities. Kim’s parents were married on November 2, 1957, in London, England. They came to the United States in July 1960 accompanied by Gail, Veronica and Stephanie. They lived in the West Philadelphia area of Philadelphia, PA in a three-story home. A lot of memories were made in our home. Bonnie married the love of her life and best friend, Ronald Drakeford on April 3rd 1994. While he was not their biological father, Ronald was a great dad to her children and loves all of them dearly. Kim leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Ronald Drakeford; 3 children, Stephen Polk, Sr., Carmen Washington and Shamyra Washington; 1 grandson, Stephen Daren Polk, Jr.; her parents, James and Veronica Polk; 5 siblings, Gail (Polk) Roberts, Veronica (Polk) Bonamy (Reginald), Stephanie (Polk) Hillhouse (Bazil), Stephen Polk (Jeanette) and Gabriella Polk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Her brother James M. Polk, Jr. preceded her in death
