Bobie Jean Glenn's Obituary
Bobie Jean Glenn was born in Fort Hauchuca, Arizona on April 15, 1934. Her parents, Felman and Ethel Mae Jones and her sister Erma Turlington preceded her in death. Her sister, Erseline Osby lives in Oakland. Bobie and her family moved from Arizona to San Francisco, California. She graduated from Commerce High School. After high school, she married Ralph Center and their son Ralph was born. She later moved to Oakland, California and graduated form nursing school.She began her religious education at an early age, attending the Third Baptist Church in San Francisco. While living in Oakland she attended Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Berkeley and was a member of the First A.M.E. Church in Oakland.Bobie, a Surgical Technologist, began her career at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco. In 1974, she married Robert Glenn. He passed away in 1984. In the early 70’s she worked at Peralta Hospital. In 1989 she transferred to Summit Hospital. Bobie retired from Summit Hospital in the late 1990’s. After retirement she worked with Dr. Larry McKendell.In 1986, Bobie met and fell in love with Lester Bolden. The two of them shared their life together fishing, camping with friends and traveling. Some of their travels sent them to several islands in the Caribbean and Hawaii. Their interest in Egyptology led them to Egypt. Bobie was an avid lover of jazz. She and Lester traveled around the country attending jazz festivals. Bobie was devoted to her partner Lester; her son Ralph Center Sr. and grandson Ralph Center Jr.She will be missed by her partner of 24 years, Lester Bolden; her son Ralph Center Sr., her grandson Ralph Center Jr., nephews Keith and Kenny Osby , nieces Linnie and Lisa Turlington and other relatives and friends.
