Janie Alexander-PhillipsI was about 12 years old when Pops came into our lives..never tried to fill the Dad role but was somewhat a mentor to all six children..Mama had 4 children when Pops came on the scene..there aren’t too many men with no children that would take on that responsibility and he was responsible. About two years later here come not one baby but two, twins Edward and Debra. We had real babies to play with! I know he loved us all equally.If our sister Gayle was still here, she’ll tell you how Pops bought everything she needed for her 1st born, buying everything she needed for his first grand child. From a bed to booties (blessed)!In our teenage era, giving advice…requesting we stop by his many fun jobs (BBQ restaurants) before we go home so we could eat.
