Beverly Eline Lambert's Obituary
Beverly Eline Lambert (née Smith) of Marin County passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on November 23, 2018. Bev was born May 10, 1935 to Lloyd and Esther Smith and was older sister to Larry Smith (d.). Although Bev was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she found home in California’s Bay Area — Oakland, Lafayette, Walnut Creek, and San Rafael. She spent sixty-one loving years married to Jack Lambert, mothering three children (Jeffrey Lloyd, Suzanne Leigh (d.), and Elizabeth Anne (Bethanne)), and doting on three grandchildren (Megan Kristine, Lauren Nicole, and Conor Lambert Flannery).
At the young age of fifteen, Bev met the love of her life when Jack and his family became her neighbors. She and Jack attended Oakland Technical High School together, graduating in June 1953. Bev and Jack married September 8, 1957 shortly after graduating from the University of California Berkeley. She adored children and wanted to be a teacher, although her career path shifted from teacher to mother when her son was born — a role in which she found even greater pleasure. Bev later worked as a pediatric medical assistant.
Bev always enjoyed spending time with her various bridge groups as well as the Beta Sigma Phi service sorority. She was a lifelong fan of the Oakland Athletics and the Oakland Raiders and frequented many games — a passion she instilled in her children and grandchildren. The greatest joy of her life was being “Grandma Bevvy” to her three grandchildren. Her smile shone the brightest when she was with them, spoke of them, and recalled memories with each of them.
During this time, the family is finding great comfort in the love surrounding Bevvy. They have no doubt that she was welcomed by all of her cherished angels with open arms. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals in Oakland and San Francisco.
A memorial in Bevvy’s honor will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland at eleven o’clock in the morning, with a reception to follow. All who adored her as we did are welcome to attend.
