Benjamin Quintana's Obituary
BEN M. QUINTANA October 3, 1930 – July 20, 2006 Resident of Oakland Died suddenly July 20, 2006. He was born in Marfa, TX and moved to California in 1940s. He attended Oakland Tech H.S. and met his wife, Helen Rodriguez. They had a daughter, Belinda Quintana Schonberg (Larry) who was devoted to him. He also leaves behind many nieces including Pamela Daniels (Norman) and Peggy Reposa and their children who loved their Uncle Ben: Theresa Fernandez, Anthony Reposa, Samuel Daniels and Crystal Capser. He was preceded in death by his parents, Papa John and Eliza Quintana; his brothers, Ismael Quintana, Lucio Quintana and sister, Elizabeth Newman. He will be missed by all who knew him. He had a heart as big as Oakland, and made many friends along the way. He loved jazz music and had a huge collection of lp’s. He was an insatiable reader and loved the Oakland Public Libraries. He was also a fan of the Oakland Raiders and the Oakland A’s. A memorial service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes. 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland Thursday, July 27th , 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life.
