Belinda Taylor's Obituary
Chapel of the Chimes Piedmont, CA 510-654-0123
1hour
Belinda Taylor – died peacefully Sunday morning after a six-year amarathon with ovarian cancer…..always very close our entire lives , these past six years revealed amazing and unexpected gifts-True rainbows of joy erupted in the most unlikely of times, the 1 Hour Drive to Stanford to go to her weekly clinical trial appointments would segue into the deepest of conversations about Intimate topics I never felt brave enough to ask her about – all of this deepened our love , affection and deep empathy for each other as well as many sad times and frustrating episodes where our roles were reversed, she became the infant baby and I , the scared and confused new mother….Somehow I felt totally unprepared to participate in this final act of love and yet it also felt the most natural of transitions, life itself a play in which mom and I were the primary actors.
She was cremated this week and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 6, 2018.

One of Belinda’s proudest contributions is her role on the board and then as board president of The Playwrights Foundation for 14 years. She was a founding member of Teaching Artists Organized and the Teaching Artist Support Collaborative of California (now Teaching Artists Guild); Consultants to the Arts (C2Arts); and a long-time member of the Alameda County for the Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership, where she authored the grant proposal that funded the first Bay Areaw Teaching Artist Institute, serving as advisor for that and following Institutes, which have evolved into the annual conference Inventing Our Future for artists, teaching artists and educators in Alameda County.
To honor Belinda’s memory and her intrepid creative spirit, the Playwrights Foundation will establish the Belinda Taylor Fund for an Emerging Female Playwright of a Certain Age to support a woman ‘of a certain age’ reinventing herself as a playwright within our Resident Playwright Initiative, which will offer 4 years of support for career advancement and connection for a playwright who, like Belinda, aims to become a playwright in her later years. Details on how to contribute in her honor will be announced soon.
