Basilio Siy Sy's Obituary
Mr. Basilio Siy Sy of Manila, Philippines passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the age of 83.
Basilio Siy Sy was born to the parents of Sy Ta and Siy Chiok on May 23, 1932 in Manila Philippines. He grew up as the third eldest son of 10 siblings. Against adversity and from humble beginnings of manufacturing mayonnaise for local restaurants, he and his siblings managed to build several businesses consisting of a wholesale grocery store, hardware store, and office/school supplies store. As the third eldest son, he ran the wholesale grocery store successfully until he retired in the late 90s.
Basilio at the age of 31, found his partner Inez Tanlimco and were married on May 17, 1964 at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish Church in Manila, Philippines. They have been inseparable ever since. Basilio is preceded in death by his wife Inez who passed away last June 2014.
Basilio is best described as a quiet, hard-working traditional Chinese man. He is survived by his 4 sons – Laurence Sy, Sammy See, Roger Sy, and Jonathan Sy; 6 grandchildren – Zachary Fong Sy, Daniel Christopher See, Jacob Tyler See, Elizabeth Shih Sy, Victoria Shih Sy, and Kirsten Addison Sy.
A viewing of body will be available to the public at The Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland on January 17, 2016 from 9:00 am until 1:00pm followed by the memorial service from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
