Barbara Lois Drew's Obituary
Passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2014 at Manor Care in Walnut Creek at the age of 87. She was born September 10th, 1926 in Wheatland, California, to Orville Le Roy Sprague, Jr. and Minnie Ruby Covington. She graduated from Albany High School and earned her A.A. from U.C. Berkeley in 1947.
Survived by her beloved husband Leland Stanford Drew Jr. of 66 years and their three children, Stephen Drew (Beverly) of Sacramento, Cynthia Andresen (Jon) of Oakland, and Claudia Travis (Chuck) of Salt Lake City, Utah. Also grandchildren Jeremy Drew (Stephannie) of Redwood City, Amanda Drew of Brisbane, Australia, Brian Andresen (Katie) of Santa Rosa, Kate Bayless (Greg) of Ventura, Jennifer Johnson (Trevor) of Salt Lake City, and C. J. Travis (Becca) of Salt Lake City. Also seven great grandchildren. The family home was in Rossmoor the past 20 years.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, cookie connoisseur, skilled bookkeeper, exacting seamstress, and avid book reader. She was the family genealogist, an organizer of fashion shows and bridge games, and a volunteer for many organizations. She knew and loved her Lord. She was an active member of Park Boulevard Presbyterian Church, Oakland, and later Grace Presbyterian Church, Walnut Creek.
A Memorial Service of remembrance and celebration will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2100 Tice Valley Boulevard, Walnut Creek. Arrangements by Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland.
