Barbara Boyle's Obituary
Barbara (Gulli-Schon) Boyle was born on January 2, not too long ago, one of eleven children, to the late John and Pauline Gulli—and passed away August 14, 2016 in Nashville, TN, a place where she and her husband Les were building a dream vacation home. Barbara is survived by her husband Leslie Boyle of Hayward, CA, son Neal Schon, guitarist with Journey, wife Michaele, children: Sarah, Miles, Elizabeth, Aja, Sophie and sister Judy Ray, San Jose, and brother Jimmy, San Dimas, CA, and many nephews and nieces. Barbara was born and raised in Hollister, CA, and graduated from High School where she was head cheerleader for all sports teams; she was a vocalist and actress and took her talent to join the U.S. Air Force, where she was vocalist for the Air Force Band at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. Her first husband, Matt Schon, was Band Leader, and was father of son Neal. First Husband Matt was music arranger for all major big bands, including the Dorsey Brothers, Nat King Cole and many others. He owned and operated a music store in San Mateo. After divorcing, Barbara worked for American President Shipping Lines for 20 years and she and Les both retired from that organization in 1995. Barbara was a very devoted mother, grandmother and wife who loved to cook and sew and dote over her beloved family. She and Les traveled the world and attended son Neal’s concerts with regularity and sang along with all of Journey’s tunes.
Arrangements are planned for Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at 11am. Services are held at: Chapel of the Chimes – 4499 Piedmont Avenue Oakland, CA 94611
