Aurora Marie Semien's Obituary
Aurora Marie Semien, 65, of Shingle Springs, CA passed away at home on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 with her family by her side. Aurora was the oldest of seven children. She grew up in Oakland, graduated from Berkeley High and earned her Liberal Arts degree from Cal Berkeley. Aurora's many qualities drew people to her, including her eye for color and passion for design. She could reinvent an old antique into a one of a kind piece of furniture. She could make handcrafted draperies or put together dance costumes for 10 little girls in a weekend. She could warm a room with her knack for interior decorating, and brighten any room with her smile. She loved the simple things: to laugh, shop, bike, share lunch with a friend, work in her garden, line dance, spend time with her grandchildren, watch the hummingbirds with John and read her bible. People were important to her. Despite her trials with cancer, her concern for others remained strong. She was loved by many and will be truly missed. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, John Semien, her two daughters Robyn Semien of Brooklyn, NY and Shaun Roney of Elk Grove, CA, two grandchildren Alexis and Jamison, two sisters, Ruby Shaw-Delph and Bernadette Hersey and four brothers, Louis Shaw III, James Shaw, Dehart Shaw and Bernard Shaw. Memorial Services to be held at: Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland @ 10:00am Thursday, March 8th. The wake is Wednesday, March 7th 5-8pm.
