Arthur James Brantley's Obituary
Arthur James Brantley Nov. 19, 1940 – Aug. 9, 2013 Resident of Oakland Arthur or “A.J.”, as he was affectionately referred to by friends and family passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 9, 2013. A.J was a 30+ year member of Allen Temple Baptist Church, Oakland, CA where he served on the Sr. Usher Board and Tape Ministry. He was a member of Monarch Lodge #73, Menelik Temple #36, Victoria Consistory #25 and Regina Chapter#67. He loved his family and friends; was always available for them with an open heart. He had a smile on his face, was ever ready to provide a laugh with a story or joke and a salutation that would bring a smiles to your face. A.J. was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pamela Kay and son Robert Eric. He is survived by his loving wife, Chesta Brantley: 4 children and 7 grandchildren. A quite hour will be from on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA; Masonic services will follow from 6-7 p.m. A memorial service, celebrating the life of A.J. Brantley will be held 11 a.m. on August 27 at Allen Temple Baptist Church, 8501 International Blvd. Oakland, CA.
