Arnold Tin Lee's Obituary
Born in San Francisco, August 6, 1927, Arnold passed away on May 26, 2016, at age 88 from complications of Multiple Myeloma disease. Arnold was the youngest son of Charles S. Lee and Gold Tai Hee. He had eight sisters and one brother; and he was affectionately known as “Uncle Arnie” to over 160 nephews and nieces. He was married to Faye, the love of his life for 33 years; step-father to Steve Lee and father of Janine Lee and Kimberlyn L. Noel (Michael Noel); and grandfather to Jacquelyn, Sarah and John Noel.
Arnold grew up in San Francisco and attended Jean Parker Elementary, Francisco Junior High School, Lowell High School, Capitol School of Typewriter Mechanics (Washington, D.C.), IBM Technical Center, and Chabot College of Hayward. He worked as an Office Machine Technician in the Comptroller’s Department of Standard Oil/Chevron Corporation. During his 43 year career at Chevron Corporation, the friendships he built were a source of pride and joy. Arnold met Faye in 1977 while they were both working for Chevron Corporation.
Arnold enjoyed fishing, bowling and ballroom dancing. Arnold also enjoyed music and once played clarinet and saxophone during high school and later with a dance band, named the Rhythmaires. He had a natural talent for cooking and gardening (and grew great tomatoes and a variety of fruits). He was also very resourceful in repairing things around our home or for some co-workers at the office. A few examples included repairing a co-workers broken dental partial, eyeglasses, jewelry and figurines. Special moments he really enjoyed included being with his grandchildren; catching a 34 lb. salmon; buying his first Lexus, and joining his many nephews and nieces at the first Cuz Gathering. Arnold loved to host candle-light dinners with friends and family – together with Faye, they made every occasion special.
We will miss Arnold’s sense of humor and the way he brought people together to enjoy good times.
All are welcome to join us at a Memorial Luncheon immediately following the conclusion of the placement of the urn. Peony Seafood Restaurant, 388-9th Street, 2nd Floor, Oakland, California. Phone 510-286-8866.
