Ardelle Mae Kerrigan Gray's Obituary
Ardelle Mae Kerrigan Gray, 90, of Orinda, California, passed away September 1, 2016 at home.
Ardelle was born in Portland, Oregon to Thomas M. and Mildred Kerrigan on May 24, 1926.
She graduated with the 1944 high school class of Washington High School in Portland. She was
active in the civilian scrap metal drives of WWII. She graduated from the University of Oregon
with a degree in accounting in 1948. She was a sister in the Chi Omega fraternity. She worked
as an accountant for the Contra Costa school district and the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, being
an early founder and board member of the railroad along with her husband. Ardelle was active
in the Girl Scouts and the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed flower gardening and was able to travel all
over the world with her husband in addition to caring for her husband and raising her family.
Ardelle is preceded in death by her older sister Jeanne Marie Butterfield, of Portland, and by her
parents.
Ardelle is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert C. Gray, her son Thomas, her daughter
Kimberlee Tankersley, and her grandson Airman William Tankersley and her granddaughter
Georgie Tankersley.
Memorial donations may be made to the local chapter of D.A.V., Disabled American Veterans.
She will rest, along with her family, at the Willamette National Cemetery in Oregon
