Anthony Huckaba's Obituary
Anthony J. Huckaba, 77, of Oakland, California peacefully left this earth with his family by his side on September 5, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ann Huckaba of Oakland, CA; his daughters, Kristine Kay Geraths, of Denver, Colorado; Toni Sue Huckaba, of Portland, Oregon; Sally Denise Gelini, of Alameda, California, his son, Keith Dunbar Gelini, of Marietta, Georgia; 4 grandchildren and his brother Jack Huckaba of Reno, NV.
Tony was a Teamster most of his life but his true passion was flying. After retiring as a Transport Driver with OC Jones & Sons after 30 plus years, he formed Aero Enterprises, LLC, flying his Twin Cessna around the Western United States to appraise aircraft. He was much admired and respected by his fellow pilots and those in the industry.
Tony always enjoyed muscle cars – teaching each of his children their way around a car and to never put a tool away dirty. He raced his Shelby GT350 at Fremont Raceway in the 1970’s and throughout his life owned and enjoyed the sound of many a Ford. With Country music always on in the garage, he made sure his family had not just the safest cars possible, but also the fastest he could make them go.
Tony met Ann on a blind date in 1977 and their deep love for each other was evident. With a blended family and busy careers they always made time for family. Over the years they took care of each other through sickness and health, dedicated to each other always.
Tony wished to be cremated and will be interred at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, CA. No other services will be held.
As Tony was a very practical man, in lieu of flowers, should you wish, please make memorial contributions to your favorite Veterans organization.
