Andrew L. Graham's Obituary
Andrew L. Graham, also known as OC, was born April 12, 1927 to Rosie Lee Shelby and Alonzo “Lonzo” Graham in Arkansas. For nearly 30 years Mr. Graham was a member of Bayview Fellowship Church in Oakland. He owned two businesses in Oakland, Andy’s Custom Tailoring and Andy’s World of Records and Tapes. His work history also included: Key System Transit, where he was a bus driver; the United States Postal Services, where he was a letter carrier; and during his extensive tenure with Lucky/Gemco Retail Stores he was the first African American District Supervisor.
Mr. Graham was a proud War World II Veteran with the U.S. Navy; a lifetime member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the NAACP; a charter member, vice president and past president of the Fruitvale Lion’s Club; founder of the Andrew Graham Scholarship Awards Corporation; vice president of the Diamond Business Association; and a member of the San Francisco Commonwealth Club.
Both his first wife Jearlean Jefferson Graham, and his second wife, Dorine Dotson Graham preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn: a sister, Jean Golden; seven children, Anthony Graham, Otis Graham, Leslie Graham, Andre Graham, Perry Graham, Ray Graham, and Tami Graham Warren, with one son preceding him in death, Vonzell Graham; two step children Ernest Logan, and Melody Logan; two daughters-in-law, Diane Crump Graham and Maria Lupe Alvarez Graham; and five previous daughters-in-law, Sylvia Butler Graham, Terri White Graham, Janice Lynn Owens Graham, Vanessa Nash Graham, and Christina Rodriguez Graham. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, plus a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
