Alice Sverdloff Davis' Obituary
Alice S. Davis passed away June 13, 2004 at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley. She was 85 years old. Alice was born in Detroit, Michigan. Her father was a master carpenter and later became a general contractor. Alice's family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she attended high school. She graduated UC Berkeley, where she studied psychology. She met her husband Bernard at UC Berkeley. They were married in November 1941 and settled in Berkeley. Bernard passed away in 1972. Most of Alice's working life was spent in the Anthropology Department at UC Berkeley, where she was office manager and worked with Professor Sherwood Washburn, a noted physical anthropologist.Alice is survived by her son Michael Davis of San Diego and her Niece Tobi Matoff of Los Angeles.Services will be held Thursday, June 24, 2004 at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland.The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society in memory of Alice Davis.
