Alice Mar Chew's Obituary
Alice Mar Chew, 76 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 20, 2011. Alice was born in Fresno California and graduated from Manteca High School. She received her teaching credential from Sacramento State, Masters degree in Education at USF, and Administrator’s degree from Hayward State. Alice taught elementry school for 36 years in Oakland at Lincoln and Cleveland Schools and also taught several ESL classes. Her hobbies included growing orchids, flowers and vegetables in her garden, and fishing. She enjoyed walking her beloved dogs Muffin and Lili in the neighborhood for several years with her good friend, David Dion. Alice is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Hanford; daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Craig Ito; grandchildren; Michelle, Jennifer, and Michael, and beloved dogs Muffin and Lili. A visitation was held on Thursday, April 28th, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. funeral Service was held Friday, April 29th, 2011 at 10:00am at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland. Burial was immediately following the service.
