Albert Masao Suezaki
October 8th, 1927 – April 27th, 2014
Resident of Lafayette, Ca
Albert Masao Suezaki, longtime resident of Lafayette, CA, passed away at the age of 86 on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Albert was born in Watsonville, CA to Henry and Grace Suezaki. He and his family relocated to Colorado during WWII. After the war, his family returned to the Central Valley in California. He later enlisted into the U.S. Army and after his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged. Albert graduated from U.C. Berkeley and became a computer specialist/programmer for the U.S. Army in Oakland and later for the U.S. Navy in Alameda. He earned the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Department of the Navy in recognition and appreciation for his high valued and beneficial service.
His down to earth character, genuine compassion for everyone, and gentlemanly approach to everything he did will be missed by family and friends. His positive outlook on life touched those around him. Most important to Albert was the love and happiness of family. He was dedicated to supporting his children and grandchildren. This support involved him with the JACL, the Boy Scouts troop 224, and numerous sporting events. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening and Bocce ball. He is survived by Sally, his beloved wife of 57 years, his sons: Robert, Bruce(Larisa), and John(Amy), his grandchildren: Andrew, Emma, and Lauren, his brother Eugene Sakai(Betty), sister Joyce Sakai, and many loving relatives and other friends.
Al, we will miss your positive presence and smile… may you rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, CA. Memorial donations can be sent in Albert’s name to Senior Helpline Services in Lafayette, CA.
