I was informed by Paul Snagg on Friday afternoon, July 6, 2012, that Al Best had just passed on. The sad news came as a relief since Al was suffering for about 10 or 12 years.I ran into Al in September 1970 at the Russian Center, San Francisco, when Esso Steelband was performing. To my great surprise, Al came to me and asked me what I was doing here. I told him that this is my home – San Francisco. Two weeks thereafter, whilst I was residing at 140 Cook Street, San Francisco, Al came by with his two nephews, Peter and Harry, and we had a wonderful eight hours session with my ex-wife Gloria, my baby son, Brian, Al, Harry, Peter and myself. And since then I have been in touch with Al.Well, he has gone to his celestral home, leaving no more pain but the sorrow and sadness with the loved ones to know that he has gone. Now he is home with his past relatives and friends.I hope they will meet again and play his real game – soccer, playing center forward, and I hope that he will score some goals. Al Best, it is sad to know that you have gone. May you rest in peace. Amen.

We would like to express our sincere sympathy to all of our family who will miss the physical presence of Uncle Son. We had some occasions to visit with him. He was such a warm and appreciative man. We hope that the family hold on tight to all the memories. Continue to love one another and never take your loved ones for granted. Nothing is promised so just love as hard as you can .
