Adelaida C. Alcantara's Obituary
The passing of our loving sister, mother and grandmother, Adelaida C. Alcantara has called us all together. Ida ‘Daling’ Alcantara was born January 1st, 1920, to the union of Paula Liwanag and Gervacio Carreon of Mexico, Pampanga, Phillippines. She was the 3rd of seven children.
In 1954, she met and married Francisco Alcantara and they had 3 children. She worked for the US Air Force Base 1961st Communications Squadron Clark Air Force Base in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines, as a Budget Analyst for over 35 years. They moved to California in December 1978 where she was the Secretary for the Oakland Unified School District for about 12 years. She loved being an active member of St Elizabeth’s parish in Fruitvale, Oakland.
Ida ‘Daling’ had a huge giving heart and she was always there to help and reach out to others. And her generous spirit was backed up with a “tell it like it is” philosophy but with candor and a great deal of love.
She enjoyed hosting parties and welcomed anyone who came through her door. People loved her kutsinta and puto with cheese plus homemade hopia. She always made sure everyone in her company had plenty of delicious food to eat. Her generosity was bigger than her heart. The Lord blessed her as she blessed all those around her.
Ida ‘Daling’ departed this life on Wednesday, November 09 ,2016 at the age of 96 years old.
Left to cherish her memories and contributions to the world are family and friends. She is survived by her brother: Reynaldo Carreon, 3 children: Blesilda Dalusong Alcantara, Francisco Alcantara Jr. and Veronica Klein, 8 grandchildren: Bernadette, Aimee, Leo, Carmel Ann, Gene Francis, Miguel, Kristina and Susan and 6 great grandchildren: Sean, Gabriel, Isabella, Jarel, Cara and Kalel.
