Andrea Therese Sims

March 20, 1974 - March 18, 2022

Andrea Sims transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the age of 47. Andrea was born on March 20, 1974, in Thibodaux, Louisiana to Lawrence Joseph Sims Sr. and Betty Jean Sykes-Sims. In 1986, Andrea along with her mother and sisters moved to San Francisco, California. In 1992, Andrea graduated from St. Paul Catholic High School in San Francisco. Upon graduation, she moved to Southern California to continue her education at California State University- Northridge. During her junior year of college, Andrea decided to become a National Exchange Student for a year at Stony Brook University in Long Island, New York to explore theatre and pursue her dream of becoming an actress. In 1997, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from California State University-Northridge. As a life-long learner and reinventor of herself, Andrea recast herself in many roles, including working in the non-profit sector, retail, and most recently as a counselor for San Mateo County. Moreover, Andrea obtained a certification in Home Health Care in her lifelong journey of supporting those in need. Andrea was a hard worker with a gentle soul who had a keen eye the family called upon for meticulous organization. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, going to concerts, and being with family. She was outgoing and a joy to be around. She was true to herself and comfortable in her own element. She was such a loving person; always willing to help whenever and wherever she was needed. Andrea loved children and was passionate about caring for her niece and nephews. Although Andrea and her twin sister are the youngest, Andrea often lead her older siblings and was a force to be reckoned with despite her birth order. Andrea is best known for her compassion, kindness, generous spirit, brilliant smile, chic style, ability to accomplish goals, and sweet disposition. From her smile to her loving personality, we have reason to rejoice, knowing our sweet angel is resting with the Lord. May Andrea forever rest in God’s eternal peace. Andrea Sims is survived by her parents, Betty Sykes-Sims and Lawrence Sims Sr. (Evelyn). Her sisters, Hermanese Sims, Lawranese Sims-Carter (Timothy), Rachelle Clay (Matthew Keller), Soloan Danielle Oubre (Eldrick); twin-sister Anitra Sims; her brother, Lawrence Sims Jr. (Monica), and stepsister Tisha Davis (Julius). In addition, Andrea is loved by nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great nephew, uncles, aunt, many cousins, and friends.
