Jeffery Duckett

Birth Date: November 9, 1956
Death Date: October 3, 2017

Jeffery Duckett Sr. was born November 9, 1956, to his dotting parents, John Wesley Duckett and Laura Lee Duckett, in San Francisco, CA. From the moment he was born he was immersed into church and knew God as his mother Laura Lee wouldn’t have it any other way. Growing up in a Baptist home you can best believe he spend most of his time in the pews. Church is where he used his God-given gifts of singing in the choir, playing guitar, and the drums. The Upper Room Baptist church under late Elder Burrell is where he received Christ as a young man. He received his education through the Oakland public school system and graduated from Castlemont.
Jeffery submerged himself into what he knew best, working and giving his best effort in the help of raising his kids. He spent most of his life driving company trucks and making deliveries. He worked for companies like YoungsMarket and was a member of IOWU Local 6 Union.

Jeffery believed living his life to the fullest and enjoyed many things. If he had a sound track for his life, it would be “Forever Young”. He enjoyed things like playing pool, riding his motorcycle, he was a member of a motorcycle club where he volunteered a lot of his time, “collecting” cars, he was known to hit the corner and show up in a Winnebago or limo just to drive around with the kids on the next adventure. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, he was the best father and grandfather, and there was no such thing as a step-child, he claimed you as his own. He was a master chef you haven’t lived if you didn’t have an African-American egg roll or tamale. He was in his element being around friends and family.

On October 21, 2013, he married Ora Duckett. They have spent the last few years enjoying life together until his untimely death on October 3, 2017, the only way they could ever part.
Jeffery was proceeded in death by his parents John Wesley and Laura Lee Duckett, his brother, John Duckett Jr., and his daughter Marisa Duckett.
Jeffery is survived by his wife, Ora Duckett. Children: Latosha Kenard, Cilestine Duckett, Felecia Clark (Robert), DaShanna Duckett, Alisha Anderson, Geovanna Moore, Sharika Senegal (Darius), Marliane Durst (Lamar), Jazaa Diston, Janay McClinton (Jason), Jeffery Duckett Jr. (Tiama), Jeffery “Petey” Duckett, Jerrell Hogan Step children: Curtis Haynes (Soraya), Walter Pierce (Deshunna), Anthony Pierce, Antoinette James (A.B), Jonathan Pierce, and Trevon Pierce Brothers and sisters: Ernestine Minor (Leroy), Otis Duckett (Danielle), Bertha Hill (Hank), Tyrone Duckett (Deesha), Andre Duckett (Pamela), brother/sister in-law: Leroy Haynes (Mary), Willie Lee Haynes (Betty), Ella Haynes (Robert), Izola Haynes(Thomas), Jim Haynes (Lisa), Edward Haynes (Renee), Harold Wayne Haynes(Lujuana), mother-in-law: Vernice Middleton.

  1. Missing you daily....

    Written by: Felecia Clark

Dad, life will not be the same without you. I miss you so much. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of you. I’m going through tons of pictures and memories of you in an effort to fill the void. I miss your laugh, your singing, your voice. I know its inevitable and I know we must all go one day, but I wasn’t expecting this time to be anytime soon. Thank you for all the memories and stepping up as a better dad and grandfather. We will never forget you and Dad we will get justice. Love you Always, your daughter Fee

  2. You will be missed, but your memory will never be forgotten. Your sense of humor, your honesty and candor, your encouraging words, your open-mindedness and your tamales- all were a cut above. I’m blessed that I had the opportunity to know you. Thank you.

  7. A friend and father to those who didn't have one

    Written by: Brandy anderson

You were always my uncle no matter what . But because i stayed with my aunt and was always with my cousins I called you dad sometimes to. I hope my cousins cherish all the memories of you good and bad, because those can never be taken away. As a person who never knew my father, because he was taken away from me before I was born. I hope they continue to relive those memories, laugh, cry and just appreciate the time they did have with you. Because they had something precious I’ve always wanted. A Father. Much love
