Inez Christine Fort
June 9, 1932 – March 1, 2018
Inez Fort was a force of nature and will be dearly missed. She was born in Los Angeles, the oldest of three girls to Harold and Inez Thompson. The family moved to Northern California when Inez was 16. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and later went on to earn two master’s degrees. Inez taught Spanish at Clayton Valley High School in Concord for 43 years and was a popular member of the staff. She loved foreign languages, international travel, and the opera. What defined her most, though, was her love of horses. She was an extremely accomplished equestrian and was well known in the vaulting community. She was a devoted and loyal friend to many and had a quick and biting wit. She never met an animal she didn’t like and harbored numerous horses, dogs, cats, exotic birds, and fish her whole life. Inez is survived by her daughters Ariana and Tina Fort and grandchildren Colette and Perry Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband James Fort as well as her beloved grandson David Schafer.
