Music in the Mausoleum: Jazz comes to Chapel of the Chimes

Chapel of the Chimes is a uniquely beautiful place with a labyrinth of indoor gardens, fountains and winding walkways creating an atmosphere that’s almost magical. It’s also a place that lends itself to community events.

With its excellent acoustics, music is a natural choice for Chapel of the Chimes, and its maze-like space allows for the strategic placement of different groups of musicians playing at the same time. The annual Summer Solstice concert in June, for example, features classical, jazz, avant-garde and electro-acoustic musicians making use of every nook and corner of the great columbarium.

The Jazz at the Chimes series is another annual concert series featuring an interesting variety of Bay Area musicians. On September 16, the featured artist will be Cascada de Flores, a quintet that performs simple, beautiful arrangements of traditional Mexican songs. Buying tickets in advance is advised. Tickets may be available at the door, for cash only, but the number is limited.

Whether you’re interested in the mausoleum, a tour or a community event, we invite you to visit Chapel of the Chimes Oakland. We hope you can join us for Jazz at the Chimes or one of our other special events. Call 510.379.5200 for more information, or look for tickets online at brownpapertickets.com
